On-Call: Yes

Weekend Work: Occasional-Expect to work 6-12 weekends a year.

Travel Required: Frequent-Away from home an average of 5 days a week.

 

Primary Purpose

Experienced construction professional who supervises the installation of signal and crossing construction projects, including the in-service testing of highway rail grade crossings and manages associated billing and records.

 

Principal Duties

  • Directs, through company employed and contracted work force, the safe and efficient installation of signal equipment, including wayside signal system and grade crossing warning systems. 
  • Ensures compliance with company and departmental safety rules through an organized safety program on the territory. Observes the actions and behaviors of team with respect to operating rules and safety of tools and equipment and provides training and enforcement, as necessary.
  • Manages to a planned schedule for implementation. Ensures all resources, including plans, schedules, personnel, construction equipment and project material are properly and efficiently utilized.
  • Controls labor and material expenditures, ensuring that charges are complete and accurate to ensure adherence to AFE authorization and accurate billing to outside parties.
  • Handles the testing of the signal system for new and modified grade crossing installations. Writes complete, accurate and thorough test sheets and delivers successful test execution to ensure that installations comply with NS and FRA standards, rules, and regulations. 
  • Provides instruction and ensures compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, including regulations of the Federal railroad Administration, Federal Highway Administration, and the Department of Transportation.
  • Ensures complete and accurate documentation is made of completed installations in accordance with company and FRA standards, rules, and regulations. This includes print revisions, as well as records of applicable FRA tests, software revision levels, and CRC checksum values are recorded in the appropriate database.
  • Inclusively leads a team of craft employees and manages to ensure adherence to governing agreement.

 

Job Related Experience

Minimum Level: 3-5 years     Preferred Level: 6-10 years

 

Education: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree

Majors:  Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management

Licenses / Certifications:  None required. Prefer CDL
