Primary Purpose:
Develops, designs, and engineers newly acquired 220 MHz data radio systems in support of mandated Positive Train Control (PTC) deployment across NS system.
Principal Duties:
- Facilitates the documentation of channel use and geographic locations in support of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) required filings.
- Performs spectrum analysis in the field to assess bandwidth demands and overcome geographic and physical constraints in each of the areas where PTC is deployed.
- Provides supporting data to identify areas where additional 220 MHz spectrum is required or alternative wireless data paths are needed.
- Performs radio frequency (RF) network analysis to support our PTC deployment and the validation of design calculations.
- Handles maintenance and troubleshooting of the hardware and software related to PTC communications field equipment and their related interfaces.
- Assists field personal in the maintenance and troubleshooting of communications equipment used with the PTC system, including data radios and network data routers and switches.
