Primary Purpose:
Performs analysis, recording, reporting and reconciliation of legal claims, stock-based compensation plans, incentive compensation plans and various company liabilities. Responsible for quarterly SEC reporting requirements for various disclosures related to compensation, benefits and legal obligations. Assists with compilation and preparation of annual employee benefit plan financial statements required for filing with department of labor. Supervises Senior Accountant Accounting Research.
Principal Duties:
- Trains, develops and supervises Senior Accountant Accounting research
- Prepares routine and non-route journal entries for compensation plans as well as legal and other claims
- Responsible for reviewing and reconciling account balances monthly
- Prepares, drafts and reviews footnotes and disclosures for quarterly SEC and other regulatory filings
- Aids in preparing numerous schedules vital to internal and external monthly reporting functions
- Prepares, reviews and assists with the filing of annual employee benefit plan financial statements for the company 401k, pension and health and welfare plans
- Analyzes and reviews ongoing accounting estimates, including around employee benefit costs, loss claims and life insurance investments
- Interfaces with internal and external auditors to respond to requests during quarterly reviews and year-end audits
- Assists with other departmental tasks as needed.
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 3-5 years
Preferred Level: 4-7 years
Education:
Required level: Bachelor's (BS, BA)

Licenses / Certifications:
Required: None listed
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Technical Skills:
Required:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
- Basic knowledge of accounting fundamentals
Preferred:
- Experience accounting for 401(k), Pension, Health and Welfare or other employee benefit plans
- Experience with stock-based compensation accounting
- Experience preparing and posting journal entries
- Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S4
- Work experience in public accounting is a plus
