Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Performs and supervises Corporate Accounting activities.


Principal Duties:

  • Prepares and files various financial reports that may include various 10-K and 10-Q supporting schedules, reports for the Surface Transportation Board (STB) and unclaimed property (escheatment). 
  • Responsible for accounting and reporting related to various accounts that may include long-term and short-term investment portfolios, subsidiaries, and Company Owned Life Insurance (COLI).
  • Makes journal entries and reconciles the general ledger.
  • Assists in closing accounts and reconciling bank accounts.
  • Ensures that financial transactions are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Surface Transportation Board (STB).
  • Prepares financial statements and reports for subsidiaries and/or benefit plans various benefit plans.
  • Responds to audit requests from external and internal auditors. 
  • Develops, analyzes, and interprets data to formulate various estimates.
  • Assists with the development, analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Coordinates preparation and development of various monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state regulatory reports, employment and compensation data, reports to security analysts, and other financial and statistical summaries.
  • Ensures the integrity of data provided from various complex systems.

Job Related Experience:

Minimum Level: 2-5 Years

Preferred Level: 3-6 Years



Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BBA, BS)

NOTE:  This position will be based in Norfolk, Virginia until June 2019 and will be relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, beginning summer 2019.
