A Day in the Life of a IT - Network Operations Intern:

 

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:00AM to 4:00PM 
  • During the months of September - December

 

As an Intern within our Information Technology Department, you will have the opportunity to be involved with a variety of enterprise applications, web applications and field operations to help support and facilitate train operations. You will also be working on enhancing unique and exciting systems that support business operations including train management and control systems, geographic information systems and maps, complex event management, customer support systems and may include support, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Group Policy Management and SCCM Management
  • Network Operations Center Support (Train Dispatch Center)
  • Autopilot and Intune / Azure AD Management
  • Comanaged Vulnerability Management with IT Security
  • Field Services Support of End User Devices and New Technology Deployment
  • Asset Management and IT Lab Support

  • Interfacing with customers, business partners, IT team members to resolve business issues.
  • Articulate technical and business elements of the job function.
  • Strong communication skills both verbally & written.
  • Have the aptitude to learn new skills, interact with and engage with peers, management, and business partners.

  • PowerShell Experience and scripting
  • USMT, MDT
  • Service Now
  • Windows 10/11, Office 365, MacOS

Education:

 

You will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree (BS) program at the time of the Internship.

Preferred Majors: Computer and Information Sciences, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a similar field.

Coursework in Information Security and/or Information Assurance a plus

You must be able to work in our midtown Atlanta HQ for 3 months in the Fall of 2023

 

Relocation assistance is not provided, but Norfolk Southern does offer a Living Stipend of $850/month, which is taxed, to those who qualify.
