Job Description

Norfolk Southern Corporation is currently seeking System Analysts for permanent positions in the Enterprise Application Services group located in Atlanta, GA (Midtown).  The successful candidates must have extensive technical and system design experience and must demonstrate an affinity for seeking, evaluating and coming up to speed on new technologies. This position provides the opportunity to be involved in new system infrastructure design as well as small to medium enhancements to existing systems supporting vital corporate operations.  The candidates will participate in all phases of the systems development life cycle and will independently and collaboratively write and review system requirements, design specifications and support guides.  Other responsibilities include 24x7 on-call rotational support for mission-critical applications and problem trouble-shooting and resolution.  This position provides the opportunity to be trained and use the latest DevOps platform and possibly SDLC platforms. These products are essential in supporting our strategic system modernization efforts.



• New system/platform build outs

• General understanding of creating branching, tagging and maintaining versions across environments using SCM tools
• Experience administering SCM platform-as-a-service on premise and on cloud
• Experience building continuous integration environment and continuous delivery environment including code builds and application deployment using Jenkins or similar automation tools
• Experience deploying web applications to containers
• Linux and Windows administration including scripting for both the operating systems
• Enterprise level systems and platform management/optimization
• Security best practices for enterprise systems including system diagramming and networking
• Good documentation and communication skills.
• Effective independent and team player and self-starter with high adaptability to new technologies

• Hands-on experience with Git, SVN, TFS, Azure-DevOps etc. on Windows, Linux or cloud platform including CI/CD, automated testing, automated build/deployment etc.
• Effective independent and team player and self-starter with high adaptability to new technologies.
• 3+ years working with vendors on SOW projects and working through vendor support tickets
• 3+ years’ experience deploying enterprise scale applications and services
• 3+ years’ experience setting up security policies, SSO, VIPs etc.
• 3+ years’ experience defining and managing system requirements through the system development life cycle.
• Working general knowledge of:
o Jenkins or any compatible CI/CD automation methodologies
o API management
o Message queues
o Enterprise bus architecture
o Container technology
o DevOps platform
o HP ALM, Performance Center, Unified Functional Testing
o Microsoft Team Foundation Server

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
