Basic Functions
Assist Enterprise Architect in documenting and researching Best Practices which will provide technological guidance in the development of new applications, the implementation of new software products and technologies, and the ongoing maintenance and support of the technology infrastructure in a way that supports corporate, business unit, and Information Technology principles, strategies, guidelines, and rules.
Principal Accountabilities
- Participate in the development, documentation and maintenance of overall architecture principles and strategies.
- For business critical technology platforms: support and maintain architecture guidelines, rules, models, and presentation standards.
- Participate in the analysis and design of multi-platform system architectures.
- Evaluate new and emerging technologies and provide recommendations of applicability and appropriateness for inclusion in the standard architecture.
- Participate in the introduction and integration of multiple new technologies on all system platforms.
- Design and conduct ongoing education of the IT development staff in the use of architecture utilities, modules, components, and processes.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent interacts with business department and IT development groups to develop and maintain an understanding of how technology is used in the business systems and to maintain a good understanding of the future business direction.
The incumbent participates in the development of guiding architectural principles and strategies and applies these to defining guidelines, rules, and standards to guide enterprise architectural decisions.
The incumbent must have and use good communication skills as he/she will work with the development staff to ensure that a standard toolset is used on each development platform, and that the standard system utilities, application modules, and architectural components are created and used. The incumbent must also work with others in IT and in other departments to ensure that architectural processes are being followed and that architectural checkpoints are integrated into existing processes.
The incumbent is able to work with several development and technical infrastructure projects concurrently. He/She possesses good planning, conceptual, and analytical abilities.
