A Day in the Life of an Industrial Development Co-Op

As a Co-op you will gain knowledge of Norfolk Sothern’s Industrial Development process. Co-ops will work closely with our team of engineers to help with preliminary engineering analysis and industry track design. Students should be familiar with engineering drawing software such as Microstation/AutoCAD. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat are preferred. Co-ops will be asked to gather and analyze data, identify challenges, and provide conceptual solutions to land development projects. Co-ops are tasked with providing preliminary engineering plans and exhibit drawings to aid in facilitating growth along our rail lines. Co-ops will also assist in the process of updating and maintaining our industrial site database.

Education/Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree
    • Preferred Degree Paths: Civil Engineering

  

Compensation

  • Freshman (27 or fewer credits) - $2,500/month
  • Sophomore (28 to 59 credits) - $2,800/month
  • Junior (60 to 89 credits) - $3,000 /month
  • Senior (90 or more credits) - $3,300/month
  • Graduate Student - $3,666/month

*Living stipend of $850/month is available to those who qualify.
