Position Purpose:

The Creative Project Manager leads the implementation and optimization of Norfolk Southern’s digital HR strategy, leveraging our digital platforms to enhance the employee experience and align, engage, and develop our talent. This person is a highly organized, creative, energetic candidate that is proactive and fast learning, with proven experience managing the creative development project flow. The Creative Project Manager will possess a proven ability to think strategically about the requirements for each project and will be able to independently research and acquire various elements or missing details. The Creative Project Manager must have experience working within a creative environment and with creative teams including graphic designers, web production, copy writers, production, and marketing teams. The candidate must also be able to communicate with the Manager Digital Experience, Human Resources leadership, and their IT counterparts.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

The Creative Project Manager leads the implementation and optimization of Norfolk Southern’s digital HR strategy, leveraging our digital platforms to enhance the employee experience and align, engage, and develop our talent. 

  • Serves as frontline project lead for implementation of key employee-experience technology projects.
  • Oversees the development of communications to promote digital tools and drive adoption.
  • Identifies and tracks the flow of tasks between the creative team and internal clients; includes handholding the project through each phase of and reporting status. Monitor intermediate and long-term deadlines and key milestones to ensure timely execution.
  • Responsible for working with Manager to identify and clarify goals and objectives, and approvers who will be involved in reviews.
  • Creates and implements end-to-end change management plans that ensure employee readiness for new ways of working.
  • Oversees day-to-day operation of HR digital platforms, coordinating with business stakeholders to maintain platform efficiency and stability.
  • Creates project plans and oversees activities required to ensure smooth and efficient platform implementation, operations, and governance.
  • Coordinates and delivers training to users of all levels (including lay users, content owners, group owners, etc.).
  • Partners with IT and software vendors on technical questions, product upgrades, and service packs.
  • Monitor analytics and reports on key performance indicators.
  • Oversees the development of communications to promote digital tools and drive adoption.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Proficient in the use of Project Management Software Tools with a preference for Jira and Workfront.
  • Must have a hands-on working knowledge of the creative development process and speak their language.
  • Must have the ability to take complex objectives and break them down into simplified, executable tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group with proven ability to drive buy-in of diverse audiences and build collaboration.
  • Must have worked in creative and/or advertising environment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills - verbal and written - with a comfort level communicating with Sr. Leadership.
  • Excellent presentation skills to all levels of organization.
  • Very knowledgeable in project management beyond coordination and trafficking of creative jobs.
  • Must understand the creative processes (proofing, design, photography) and creative milestone. Experience with Figma or other design systems is a plus.

Position reports to Manager Digital Experience.

No direct reports.

Environment:

Position offers a hybrid work schedule with 2 days required in the office per week. The office is a brand new, state of the art facility with dining and parking on site. 

 

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

 

Standard Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

 

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
