Job Description

Currently, we are seeking candidates to fill the position of Project Manager within our IT space in our Atlanta, GA location.  Our IT department develops and maintains an exciting range of technical initiatives including predictive analysis, AI, mobility and more.  Candidate will be part of the IT Program Management Office team.  As part of this team, the candidate will lead and work with Business Process teams as well as Technical Services and Business Partners as it pertains to the project methodology process.  This project manager role is responsible for providing oversight of strategic initiatives to delivery technical solutions.  You will manage multiple projects with a primary focus on managing scope, timelines, cost, risks/issues and communications in accordance with the Norfolk Southern project management framework.  IT Project Manager will also be working with our PMO to continually adhere, govern and improve project practices within our IT department.   


Primary Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Manage scope, requirements, timeline, cost, quality, human resources, communications and integration
  • Identify and manage risks / issues and development of mitigation plans
  • Lead meetings for status reporting, scheduling, requirements, resource assignments and deliverables
  • Maintain document control and track project activities and team communications
  • Prepare project reports and dashboards as required by the management team
  • Ensure project repository is built and maintained
  • Develop and review project status with project team and create weekly reports
  • Manage outsourced teams (off-site) including vendor engagements
  • Develop and publish communications to project teams, management and project stakeholders
  • Provide guidance on process and deliverables to the project team
  • Lead project teams in strategic meetings and follow up with meeting notes
