Job Description



Primary Purpose:

This is a radio frequency engineering position which will design, engineer and optimize VHF and UHF radio networks. The responsibilities of this position include performing propagation studies, evaluating network performance, laboratory testing, providing technical support, contributing in industry discussions and development of emerging technology and standards. 


Principal Duties:

  • Designs, engineers, and optimizes VHF and UHF radio frequency (RF) networks using industry suite of tools, including Mentum Planet.
  • Ensuring regulatory standards are met according to FCC, TIA and industry guidelines.
  • Executes spectrum analysis to assess channel loading, validates design calculations and interference mitigation for geographic and physical constraints in each of the areas where radio networks are deployed.
  • Performs lab testing of new software and hardware related to communications networks.
  • Coordinates with field operations resources to support deployment of new software and hardware.
  • Provides supporting data to identify areas where additional spectrum is required, or where alternative wired or wireless data paths are needed.
  • Supports maintenance and troubleshooting activities of radio network.
  • Documents maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for Operations Maintenance Manual (OMM) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guides.
  • Analyzes trending data to investigate ongoing and emergent operational issues related to key performance indicators (KPIs) and to optimize the network.


Job Related Experience:

Minimum Level: 1-2 years Preferred Level: 3-5 years
