Job Description

The Manager, Mobile Software Engineering, is responsible for leading a team of mobile software engineers responsible for designing, developing, delivering and supporting enterprise mobile applications. This role provides both leadership and technical direction, ensuring mobile solutions are secure, scale, reliable and align with the company enterprise architecture and business priorities.

 

The Manager will oversee the complete mobile software development lifecycle, establish engineering standards and best practices, manage delivery across multiple initiatives and develop a high-performance engineering team. The role serves as the primary point of accountability for the mobile portfolio with the organization.

Responsibilities:

•    Lead a team of mobile developers and engineers responsible for enterprise iOS, Android and cross-platform applications.
•    Manage employee performance by conducting regular performance reviews, training, and coaching for performance discrepancies.
•    Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
•    Ensure the team has the appropriate skills and capacity to support current commitments and future mobile technology needs.
•    Lead multiple project teams that oversee all aspects of systems development lifecycle, including project initiation, analysis & design, development & testing, implementation, and documentation.
•    Monitoring and forecasting of capital and expense budgets.
•    Provide technical leadership and guidance on application architecture, APIs, authentication, cloud integration, security, performance, and scalability.
•    Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Cloud, API, UX/UI, Data, and other engineering teams to ensure mobile solutions align with enterprise technology standards.
•    Drive modernization of the mobile technology stack, including cloud migration, platform upgrades, technical debt reduction, and application rationalization.
•    Evaluate emerging mobile technologies, frameworks, AI capabilities, and development tools that can improve engineering productivity and user experience.
•    Manage competing priorities, engineering capacity, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments across multiple projects
•    Ensure appropriate Agile/DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, release management, and production support processes are followed.
•    Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate business needs into executable technology roadmaps.

Job Related Experience

Minimum Level: 3-5 years 
Preferred Level: 6-10 years 
 

Education Required 
•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology , Computer Engineering or related discipline. 

 

Skills Required 
•    7+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience developing or supporting mobile applications.
•    3+ years of experience or exposure to leading software engineers, development teams, or technical delivery teams.
•    Experience with modern mobile development technologies and architecture.
•    Experience with native and/or cross-platform mobile development frameworks such as Swift/iOS, Kotlin/Android, React Native, or Ionic/Capacitor. 
•    Experience with REST APIs, authentication authorization, cloud platforms, application security, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
•    Experience with Agile software development practices.
•    Proven experience with communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and software decision-making skills.

 

Skills Desired 
•    Experience with AWS or other major cloud platforms.
•    Experience modernizing legacy mobile applications and migrating applications or services to cloud platforms.
•    Experience integrating mobile applications with enterprise platforms such as SAP, ServiceNow, Salesforce, or other SaaS solutions.
•    Understanding of AI-assisted software engineering and opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into mobile applications and development processes.
