Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Manages the company's outreach to news media and response to media inquiries, taking a proactive role to protect and promote the corporate reputation and initiatives.

Principal Duties:

-Serves as the company’s primary media spokesperson on a daily basis.

- Researches situations, establishes official NS positions, coordinates consistent response to external entities by self and other NS representatives.

- Mirrors Government Relations approaches, with the press and the public
 - Manages the company's crisis communications.

- Designs and implements company’s internal communications process for crisis communications.

 - Responds to inquiries about day-to-day operations, services, policies, and practices.
 - Develops strategies and best practices to achieve favorable outcomes in media coverage.
 - Ensures that information provided to the media is accurate and timely.
 - Builds and maintains relationships with local, national, and international media representatives.
 - Writes news releases, press kits, and talking points for senior executives.



Job Related Experience:
   Minimum Level:  5-7 years
   Preferred Level:  6-9 years

Education:
   Preferred Level:  Bachelor's Degree (BA)
   Preferred Majors:
      - Journalism, Public Relations, Communications

Licenses / Certifications:
   Required:  None listed
   Preferred: PRSA APR

Technical Skills:
 - MS Excel/Spreadsheets
 - MS Outlook
 - MS Word
 - MS Powerpoint

- Knowledge of AP Style
