Job Description

Norfolk Southern’s Internship Program is a unique opportunity for students across the country to gain hands-on work experience in our innovative fortune 500 company. Currently we are seeking a talented front-end engineer intern with knowledge of browser development for a large scale public facing application.

This role would involve the development of new mobile applications, as well as feature enhancements to existing applications. Development responsibilities include overall hybrid mobile application design and development, participating in code reviews, and pair development.

 

Education
Currently enrolled in a 4-yr College Degree program preferably in Computer Science or a related field. 

 

Responsibilities
• Participate in the development of hybrid mobile applications using the latest versions of Angular and Ionic Framework.
• Work with business partners to gather requirements, prepare functional specifications, form project plans and communicate progress throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Work closely with business partners to determine appropriate solutions

 

Top Skills Required
• Experience with Git as a source control.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of UI and UX design.
• Understanding of responsive design, web standards and UI/UX best practices

 

Nice to have
• Front end web development experience
• Mobile hybrid application development experience, with experience using Cordova and the Ionic Framework being a huge plus.
• UI design or mockup skills.
• Experience building REST services using Java.
