Job Description
The Information Technology department seeks a new Senior Director to manage, supervise, and drive Advanced Analytics development and support efforts. This senior director must bring strong technical skills combined with experience in project and team management to complement his/her peers and produce the strongest possible IT Management Team.
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining Data Science/AI/ML solutions. Responsibilities include delivery of these analytics projects according to a defined plan, schedule and budget using formal project management and architectural guidelines.
Essential Job Functions
• Work closely with business areas to identify opportunities where AI/Machine Learning/Advanced Analytics can enable new business opportunities. Identify related system needs, capture specifications, deliver systems that meet agreed upon requirements.
• Effectively utilize appropriate Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Computer Vision models and techniques to solve various business problems
• Ensure appropriate levels of governance and testing procedures for data and models and work with AVPs and VP to set strategy regarding governance, technology, and methodological direction as well as operational approach in IT
• Organize, staff, and manage multiple projects and teams to develop new systems and to enhance and maintain existing systems
• Ensure gathering of high quality functional and non-functional requirements for new systems or enhancements of existing systems
• Critically review development plans for practicality and viability and control project scope, budget and timeline
• Ensure good quality assurance during all phases of the development cycle
• Recruit talent identify and act on opportunities for team training and skills development
• Provide supervision, mentoring, technical leadership and assistance to manager, staff members and project teams
• Ensure efforts are compliant with approved corporate policies, departmental standards, and procedures
• Coordinate and manage initiatives that involve cross-functional teams including IT, Business partners, vendors, etc.
• Formulate and implement initiatives to improve quality and productivity of software development and support processes
• Source appropriate services from external vendors to supplement internal resources, negotiate and manage contracts and SOWs deliver projects on time and budge
• Prepare and share regular project status with senior management staff
• Stay current with the latest technological tools and mentor their teams on advanced technologies
Skills Required
• Strong business process analysis, analytics and development skills
• Advanced knowledge of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, statistical techniques, and algorithms
• Experience with various data types e.g. sensor data, image, and video data
• Thorough understanding of system/software development and software engineering methodologies and programming tools like Python, R, C++, or Java
• Strong knowledge of Data visualization and BI tools, e.g. Tableau or Spotfire
• Proven leadership skills necessary to supervise and direct the performance of a large team
• Proven problem solving, project management and planning skills
• Experience in systems integration and in managing large out sourced initiatives and vendors
• Knowledge of various databases, data warehouse, Big Data and cloud platforms such as Hadoop, AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.
• Strong communication skills
Experience and Education
• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related field
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience (as a Lead Data Scientist, Manager/Senior Manager Data Science, etc.), 8+ preferred; or proven qualifications.
• Experience in leading/managing direct reports and projects
• Hands-on and theoretical knowledge of various Machine Learning algorithms for regression, classification, clustering, and knowledge of various Deep Learning algorithms and frameworks for Localization, Segmentation, Object Detection, etc.
• Experience in leading large teams and/or complex programs
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively
