Job Description

 

Norfolk Southern Corporation is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified Senior Technology Engineer with strong mentoring, development, analytical, organization and communications skills and technical proficiency in .Net, C#. Lead a dynamic agile project team developing and supporting one of our highly available and mission critical applications. Seeking a developer that possess a positive attitude with a focus on results, excellent communication skills, highly organized, ability to prioritize work, and proactive in research. This position will require 24x7 support of a mission critical application on a rotating basis.  

 

Principal Duties 

  • Provide technical leadership to individual developers and the team.
  • Work closely with business partners, IT teams and development teams in system and code design.  
  • Assist with development, review code, and deliverables are thoroughly unit tested.  
  • Assess individual skills and align work assignments to current and areas for growth. 
  • Complete technical screenings for candidates.
  • Provide Manager with insights into individual contributors’ performance and gaps.
  • Work with the Product Owners to create a comprehensive design based on business needs.
  • Aid with User Story breakdown. 
  • Help with development. 
  • Mentor less experienced developers on coding and IT best practices.
  • Set coding standards and best practices as well as conduct code reviews to ensure high. quality code based on detailed designs that meet requirements.
  • Provide support for a mission critical applications.
  • Effectively communicate with end-users, co-workers, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and attention to detail during daily operations.
  • Utilize strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Display customer support skills.
  • Demonstrate Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 
 

Skills Required 

  • 8-10 years’ experience using C# .NET.
  • 6 years’ of experience in application design and development.
  • Strong SQL skills with relational databases.

 
 

Skills Desired 

  • Java or Angular development. 
  • DevOps & CI/CD. 
  • Prior team lead experience. 

 

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business, Management, Information Systems or Engineering preferred. 


 

Work Conditions
Environment: Office Remote, ideal candidate must be based or relocated within 60 miles Atlanta.
Shift Work: No
On-Call: Yes; rotational on call work could require evenings and weekends.
