Job Description

 

 

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for oversight of Operations-Driven Safety Technology designed to enhance employee engagement with a focus on those in the field. The incumbent is also responsible for the effective evolution of the Learning Management System and how NS develops / leverage’s other digital tools to enhance employee training and professional expertise around safety.   

 


Principal Duties:
•    Oversee the operations-driven development of Safety-oriented technology to ensure uniformity throughout the corporation as well as smart design from the end-user’s perspective. 
•    Close collaboration with managers responsible for Conductor Trainee development to ensure they are equipped with the digital tools necessary to perform their job safely.
•    Ensures uniform training that builds upon knowledge and skills taught in the McDonough, GA Training Center.
•    Responsible for benchmarking industry best-practices and maintaining close relationships with peers at other Class I railroads.  Represents Norfolk Southern in industry forums concerning Operations Training and Technology.
•    Responsible for coordinating with IT on the implementation of the FIT (Field Information Technology) process, an initiative to improve hardware, software, information accessibility, and training to change the way Operation Supervisors access, retrieve, document and communicate the data they need to effectively supervise safety, train performance, customer service and cost.
•    Administration of the Success Factors learning management system in operations.
•    Coordinate and lead the design, development, and delivery of new digital safety training materials in Operations, while ensuring compliance with government regulations and the legal requirements associated with the training of safety sensitive railroad employees and other applicable Federal and State laws regarding the training of Operations employees.
