Job Title: Senior PTC (Positive Train Control) QA Analyst Lead
Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking a Senior PTC (Positive Train Control) QA Analyst Lead based in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will be responsible for testing the PTC locomotive-based computer system and system interactions with the back-office systems. This individual will interface with various external vendors, IT management, business areas, and other QA analysts to build a testing strategy and facilitate the development and execution of test cases in order to support Norfolk Southern’s transportation systems. This position requires domestic travel approximately 5% of the time. When not required to travel, this individual will be required to telecommute to the office in alignment with Norfolk Southern’s office/remote - hybrid work policy.
Job Duties:
- Provide testing strategy and hands-on technical experience.
- Assist in leading test engineers and architects to achieve company manual and automation testing goals.
- Build strategies that embrace new testing technologies for both current and legacy application.
- Implement testing strategies that integrate with a DevSecOps environment.
- Align the team with testing best practices and metrics.
- Assist with the selection of test engineers and architect resources and hold these individuals accountable to successful testing best practices.
- Demonstrate success in building and leading testing teams.
- Provide hands-on management and leadership to a team of testing professionals responsible for implementing QA practices within the software development lifecycle.
- Develop the testing practices and test automation skills within the team.
- Work closely with IT and Agile leadership on strategy development, planning, and design of new test solutions and the refinement of existing processes and tools.
- Communicate the testing strategy to leadership.
- Track defects in both internal and vendor defect management systems.
- Update and maintain defects in Norfolk Southern’s Enterprise Quality Assurance System.
- Analyze defects and assign to appropriate resources.
- Work closely with Subject Matter Experts to resolve system issues.
- Help publish and distribute reports/metrics.
- Assist with the test execution and the coordination of test execution schedules.
- Support change management as it relates to Quality Assurance.
- Verify message flow between systems using in-house viewer tool (XML and EMP).
- Build test sets and run planned test cases in Norfolk Southern’s Enterprise Quality Assurance System.
- Modify existing test cases and create new test cases, along with identification of test data.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related, relevant field (equivalent foreign degree accepted).
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with software quality assurance. This experience must include at least four (4) years of experience:
- Working in Enterprise Quality Assurance Systems;
- Supporting testing activities;
- Working with teams to discuss problem analysis, systems defects, and requirements; and
- Analyzing data and requirements, creating/executing test cases, tracking defects, and reporting results.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Work in a complex multi-vendor environment; and
- Oversee and lead a team with customer support focus.
- Must be able to work weekends and on-call as necessary.
