Job Title: Sr. E-Commerce Technology Engineer
Norfolk Southern Corporation seeks a Sr. E-Commerce Technology Engineer based in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will be responsible for the development of cutting-edge web applications solving challenging business needs. This position will be responsible for supporting existing applications and building solutions from the ground up, investigating design approaches, prototyping, and evaluating technical feasibility. This position will be responsible for all aspects of development including design, development, testing, and maintenance of key systems. This position will work in a dynamic environment to deliver a forward-looking user experience while maintaining high-quality software. This position will play a critical role in ensuring that deliverables meet expected outcomes. This individual will be required to telecommute to the office in alignment with Norfolk Southern’s office/remote - hybrid work policy.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver innovated, engaging web applications using the latest software technologies.
• Fulfill several product initiatives simultaneously while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Development teams, and Stakeholders.
• Work with outside vendors and external teams to collect and confirm business and technical requirements.
• Identify design problems and devise solid technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to industry best practices and coding standards.
• Thoroughly understand the requirements and ability to develop detailed software designs.
• Continuously improve and enforce best practices, coding, and UI/UX standards.
• Conduct system wide requirement analysis and work effort estimations.
• Engage in all agile ceremonies, providing input, status updates, and feedback as needed to ensure team is successful.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior developers.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related, relevant field (equivalent foreign degrees accepted).
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with Java and Angular (TypeScript) technologies to design and develop scalable applications. This experience must include at least two (2) years of experience:
o Utilizing data modeling and database programming skills (SQL Server);
o Working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and front-end frameworks;
o Utilizing agile methodologies (Scrum);
o Working with RedHat OpenShift/ Kubernetes; and
o Utilizing continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Nexus, JUnit, SonarQube, and/or GIT.
• Demonstrated ability to:
o Provide troubleshooting assistance and requirements to infrastructure teams related to networks, firewalls, load balancers and concepts;
o Build, manage, and foster a team-oriented environment; and
o Lead a team and mentor junior developers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of:
o Java, including data structures, algorithms, enterprise systems, and asynchronous architectures;
o Web services software architecture and design (REST/SOAP), including security-based implementations; and
o Angular 12 or newer and State management (NGRX or Redux).
• Must be able to work weekends and on-call as necessary.
