Primary Purpose:
Supervises, coordinates, and directs the activities of the first line supervisory and scheduled personnel involved in the overall maintenance and operation of an assigned territory.
Principal Duties:
• Responsible for safe, reliable, and economic operation of communication and signal infrastructure on assigned territory.
• Ensures compliance with company and departmental safety rules through an organized safety program on the territory.
• Conducts regular inspection trips to review work practices and condition of territory. Initiate follow-up on areas where exceptions are noted to ensure appropriate corrective measures are taken.
• Facilitate training of agreement and non-agreement employees in areas of safety and maintenance to insure a competent and efficient workforce.
• Provides oversight of C&S operation on assigned territory to permit efficient use of manpower and material resources, providing recommendations to management on measures that can be taken to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency of the C&S infrastructure.
• Monitors the actions of subordinates in regard to safety, ensuring safety of tools and equipment being used, and providing training and enforcement as necessary.
• Supports efforts of local safety committees and promote the establishment and maintaining of a safe and efficient working environment for field personnel.
• Handles the testing of the signal system for new modified wayside signal and grade crossing installations. This includes the writing of complete and accurate test sheets and their successful execution to ensure that installations comply with company and FRA standards, rules and regulations.
• Insure complete and accurate documentation is made of completed installations in accordance with company and FRA standards, rules and regulations. This includes print revisions, as well as records of applicable FRA tests recorded in STAMP. This also includes software revisions levels and CRC checksum values recorded in SMS.
• Coordinates with supervisors of signal Construction projects to ensure they are installed in accordance with plans and specifications and that they provide the safety of operation intended.
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 3-5 years Preferred Level: 6-10 years
