A Day in the Life of an Information Technology Co-Op/Internship

Job Description

TransWorks is seeking a highly motivated and qualified application developer. The successful candidate will join a dynamic project team developing and supporting our Transportation Management Systems.  A positive attitude with a focus on results, excellent communication skills, proven analytical skills, the ability to work successfully with business partners and effective participation in a team environment are key to this position.

 

Development responsibilities include overall application design and development of the mobile app product under supervision of existing mobile app developers

Co-Op/Internship Opportunities

        Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high quality mobile app software that fulfill end user requirements
  • Create documentation, conduct thorough testing, and follow defined change control processes
  • Provide support for a mission critical application
  • Effectively communicate with end-users, co-workers, managers, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and attention to detail during daily operations

     

    Skills Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Good fundamental knowledge of computer science, algorithms, data structures, databases and SQL
  • Basic understanding of software development life cycle and code management concepts. 
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and a passion for writing great code. 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Familiarity with object-oriented design and coding skills
  • Experience in C/C++/Java/AngularJS

     

    Skills Preferred

  • Experience with iPhone app development
  • Experience with Android app development
  • Experience supporting mission critical applications

     

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree
    • Preferred Degree Paths: Computer and Information Sciences, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems and majors in a similar field of study will be considered
  • Knowledge and experience in some of the following areas: C, C++, J2EE, Ajax, JavaScript, XML, VB.NET, C#.NET, Java, DB2, Oracle, MS SQL Server, SSIS , or SSRS.

 

Compensation:

  • Freshman (27 or fewer credits) - $2,500/month
  • Sophomore (28 to 59 credits) - $2,800/ month
  • Junior (60 to 89 credits) - $3,000/month
  • Senior (90 or more credits) - $3,300/month
  • Graduate Student - $3,666/month

*Living stipend of $850/month is available to those who qualify.
