Director Employee Experience and Engagement

Primary Purpose: 

The Director Experience and Engagement is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of an engagement strategy that enhances the cultural, interpersonal, workplace, and digital experience for all employees at Norfolk Southern and supports the company's cultural transformation and business objectives.

Principal Duties: 

• Oversees engagement efforts focused on facilitating a collaborative, inclusive working environment, promoting agile and innovative business practices, and breaking down organizational silos.
• Leads the design and administration of employee engagement and culture studies to identify key personas and spheres of interest within the organization.
• Analyzes engagement study results and formulates multi-year strategic recommendations to enhance the quality of the employee experience and drive cultural transformation that supports business objectives.
• Oversees initiatives to promote employee-led initiatives that advance inclusion, equity, and cultural transformation.
• Leads the strategic development of the company’s global employee value proposition and works in partnership with Corporate Communications to oversee a multi-channel strategy for promoting the EVP to all employees.
• Oversees the Human Resources communication strategy and ensures that all messaging reflects the NS talent brand and supports cultural transformation.
• Oversees the development and management of benefit programs and initiatives that enhance the Norfolk Southern employee experience.
• Proactively works with key stakeholders across the organization to facilitate the development and implementation of strategic workplace-design initiatives that drive desired behaviors and support employee well-being.
• Partners with Information Technology to articulate the organizational digital experience strategy to provide employees with low-effort technology solutions that enhance productivity, collaboration, and organizational agility.
• Influences key business leaders to ensure a consistent experience is delivered to all employees, regardless of differences such as functional area, location (office vs. field), or union/non-union status.
• Develops and oversees the execution of an experience-led change management methodology to enable successful change within the organization specific to audience needs.
• Builds relationships among the employee experience team and encourages individual professional development.

Job Related Experience:
