Job Description

This position will be located in Norfolk, VA until the summer of 2021 when it will permanently be relocated to Atlanta, GA. Candidates must be willing to work in Norfolk and relocate to Atlanta in the summer of 2021.

Primary Purpose:
Manages and administers benefit programs sponsored by Norfolk Southern and subsidiary companies.

Principal Duties:
 - Manages implementation and administration of benefits programs.
 - Interacts with program participants, lawyers, actuaries, auditors, and outside vendors.
 - Supervises employees who handle day-to-day functions including problem resolution, reporting, and other employee benefits related duties.
 - Manages third-party benefits administrators.
 - Ensures departmental compliance with Employee Retirement and Income Security Act (ERISA), the Railroad Retirement Act, Pension Protection Act, and the Internal Revenue Code.
 - Manages preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs.
 - Analyzes existing benefits policies of organization, and prevailing practices among similar organizations to recommend competitive benefits programs.

Job Related Experience:
   Minimum Level:  3-5 years
   Preferred Level:  6-10 years

Education:
   Preferred Level:  Bachelor's Degree (BS)
   Preferred Majors:  Business - Human Resource Development

Licenses / Certifications:
   Required:  None listed
   Preferred:  Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)
