Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Planning, organizing, setting and directing Crown Company policies, procedures and practices for our Truck & Brokerage Operations to ensure Safety, Service Quality, Capacity and Cost Control to satisfy our customers, drivers, employees and financial requirements.

Principal Duties:

  • Dispatch Management: oversee truck and brokerage dispatch centers.  Identify synergies adn promote collaboration between the two groups.
  • Direct fleet managers to insure safety, on-time service, cost controls and contract compliance are being met while maintaining the independent contractor relationship.
  • Direct recruiting departmetn to insure fleet supports on-time service goals, allows for growth and most importantly vets the quality of new drivers to achieve our safety goals.
  • Motor Carrier Administration - oversee department activities responsible for licensing equipment, paperwork and insurance requried to maintain our motor carrier status.
  • Develop and direct our safety department programs to achieve our goals and stay in compliance with FMCSA guidelines.
  • Conduct periodic terminal and customer visits to insure that day to day operations support safety and service objectives.
  • Participate in evaluating the pricing of new business and facilitate communication that deal requirements are discussed and all potential costs are identified.
  • Work with the Law department to keep the owner operator contract in sync with the current environment.  Act as company expert in dispositions during litigation cases.
  • Facilitate periodic employee meetings to discuss company performance and address concerns.
  • Work with NS Train operations to create awareness of needs and to ensure that ample train capacity exists to support on-time service and when trains can be annulled during customer shutdown to minimize cost.

Job Related Experience:

  • Minimum level: 10 years.
  • Driver operations safety & recruiting
  • Intermodal experience a plus

Education:

  • Preferred level: Bachelor's Degree
